Stochastic method with low mode substitution for nucleon isovector matrix elements

Abstract: We introduce a stochastic method with low-mode substitution to evaluate the connected threepoint functions. The isovector matrix elements of the nucleon for the axial-vector coupling g 3 A , scalar couplings g 3 S and the quark momentum fraction x u−d are calculated with overlap fermion on 2+1 flavor domain-wall configurations on a 24 3 ×64 lattice at mπ = 330 MeV with lattice spacing a = 0.114 fm.

“…Nonperturbative renormalization is carried out and the final results are all reported in the MS scheme at 2 GeV. We determine the total quark spin contribution to the nucleon spin to be ∆Σ = 0.405 (25) (37), which is consistent with the recent global fitting result of experimental data. The isovector axial coupling we obtain in this study is g 3 A = 1.254 (16) (30), which agrees well with the experimental value of 1.2723 (23).…”

“…Gaussian smearing applied to all three quarks, and Γ e is the unpolarized projection operator of the nucleon. All the correlation functions from the source points x in the grid G are combined to improve the the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) [12]. When t f is large enough, R q,g (t f , t) approaches the bare nucleon matrix element N |T q,g 44 |N .…”

“…For C 1 this trick was applied already in [11]. In a different context it was used in [21], where it was dubbed the "stochastic sandwich method". Including the sign of the Wick contraction (easily obtained from the number of fermion loops) we explicitly have 2…”
