Stochastic algorithms in multimodal 3PL segment for the digital environment

Abstract: This paper discusses the problem of creation of control algorithms when working in the Third Party Logistic concept. It considers the process of supply management when several means of transport and an intermediate distribution center are used. It is assumed that goods are processed in the Machine-to-Machine mode by means of machine-readable codes. The controlling server processes the data and makes a decision either to use one or another mode of transport, or to store the cargo temporarily at the distribution… Show more

“…Accordingly, new cross-docking and pick-by-line technologies are being introduced at DC [23]. The criteria for economic efficiency [24] when maximizing the 3PL operator's profit can be the minimization of costs for the DC scale and the balance between possible costs (for example, for the factors of demurrage and detention or for contractual penalties for non-delivery or late shipment) [25].…”

“…Demand management by 3PL is also discussed as one of the factors in a benchmarking assessment model by Mohanty and Shankar (2020). Krasnov et al (2019) consider the supply management process, the procurement side, by 3PL when different means of transport are used and an intermediate distribution center. On the other hand, supply management from the perspective of 3PL in the supply chain is extensively discussed in Huemer's (2012) work based on studies conducted in Scandinavian countries.…”
