Stirring‐induced solution crystallization of ultra high molecular weight polyamide 6

Abstract: SynopsisUnstable solutions of ultrahigh molecular weight polyamide 6 have been prepared by adding a nonsolvent to the polymer solution. Crystallization of the polyamide from such a solution proceeds very slowly. It has been found, however, that vigorous stirring of the unstable solutions induces rapid fibrous crystallization of the polymer. The fiber mat consists of irregularly shaped fibers.
