“…The infestation and damage level of this insect varied from district to district (Table 2). McPherson and McPherson (2000) reported that stink bugs (Pentatomidae) and leaf-footed bugs (Coreidae) are important direct pests of many crops which agree with The infestation and damage of biting ants (black ants) were recorded in terms of nest constructed and leaf wounded due to ants. Key: -Very low (≤ 5%) =*, low (6-10%) = **, medium (11-20%) =***, high (21-50%) =****level.…”

“…To evaluate pRNAi effects in E. heros, young adults (0-3 days old) were collected and chilled on ice and gender identified based on structural dimorphism of the genitalia (McPherson and McPherson, 2000). The insects were handled with Featherweight entomology forceps and females injected with dsRNA using a Nanoject II™ injector.…”

“…It was subsequently confirmed resistance of IAC100 in naturally occurring infestations of soybean bug complex (Piozodorus guildinii, Euschistus spp, and Nezara viridula (Rosseto, 1989;Carro-Panizzi and Kitamura, 1995). This cultivar has two American introductions PI 229358 and PI 274454 in its genealogy (Carro-Panizzi and Kitamura, 1995), which have proven resistance to complex gift bedbugs in South America (Panizzi et al, 2000) and southern United States (Mcpherson and Mcpherson, 2000). Possibly, we can infer that the background of genotype IAC100 exists in some alleles for resistance to the cyst nematode, which during the selection in LAGER/UFU breeding program and with the advancement of its generations, allowed the expression of its gene effect for resistance in some selected strains.…”
