“…We have chosen to use the division intertemporal/endogenous forest growth versus dynamic recursive/exogenous forest growth throughout the paper because most intertemporal forest sector models are rich in forest data, and most dynamic recursive models do not include detailed forest growth and management. There are however a few exceptions: timber supply in the intertemporal European Forest and Agriculture Sector Optimization Model (EU-FASOM) is based on econometric relations (Lauri et al 2012) and the French Forest Sector Model (Caurla et al 2013) has more detailed representation of forest dynamics, but with forest growth still exogenous to the model. Although both types of models have been used to evaluate similar questions (see Latta et al (2013) for a review) few studies exist where dynamic recursive models are compared with intertemporal optimization models.…”
