We present a new method to solve in a semianalytical way the Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi evolution equations at NLO order in the x-space. The method allows to construct an evolution operator expressed in form of a rapidly convergent series of matrices, depending only on the splitting functions. This operator, acting on a generic initial distribution, provides a very accurate solution in a short computer time (only a few hundredth of second). As an example, we apply the method, useful to solve a wide class of systems of integrodifferential equations, to the polarized parton distributions.

“…The excellent muon systems [30,31] and electromagnetic calorimeters [32] of ATLAS and CMS will allow them to trigger on and study B mesons containing J/ψ or leptons in the final state. The pixel detextors in the most inner part of the tracking systems of ATLAS [33,34] and CMS [35,36], have a very good vertex resolution which are critical for B physics. Due to the difficulty of reconstruction and tagging of B mesons in the presence of multiple interactions in the same bunch crossing, most of the B physics program in these experiments will be limited to the early days of the LHC when the machine luminosity will be about 10 33 cm −2 s −1 .…”

CP-violation is one of the least understood phenomena in our field. There are major experimental programs in all high energy laboratories around the world which will hopefully remedy this within the next decade. The study of CP-violating effects in B meson decays will allow stringent tests of the Standard Model to be made and may point the way to New Physics.The Beauty97 conference provided a forum for these experiments to discuss their physics potential and experimental challenges relating to these studies. This paper reviews the ongoing and future experimental B-physics projects. I will summarize the status and future plans of these projects, as well as the highlights of the physics and key R&D results presented at the conference. At the end, a critical comparison of the CP-violation B experiments will be given.

We perform a NLO analysis of polarized deep inelastic scattering data to test two different solutions to the so-called spin crisis, one of them based on the axial gluon anomaly and consistent with the Bjorken sum rule, and another in which the defects in the spin sum rules and in the Gottfried sum rule are related. In this case a defect is also expected for the Bjorken sum rule. The first solution is slightly favoured by the SLAC El54 results, but both options seem to be consistent with the CERN SMC data. §1. IntroductionThe EMC experiment on gf(x) 1) has given for the first moment of the spin dependent proton structure function g{ ' (x) a value much smaller than the prediction of the Ellis-Jaffe sum rule 2) for the proton (we use a3 = GA/G v = 1.2573 ± 0.0028 and a8 = 3F -D = 0.579 ± 0.025 3 »),This has stimulated considerable experimental activity in measuring the polarized structure functions (SF) gf(x), g~(x) (g~He) and gr(x).4)~6) From the theoretical point of view, the hypothesis has been formulated 7) that a relevant isoscalar contribution, related, in the chiral-invariant factorization scheme, 8) to a large gluon polarization, contributes to Eq.
