Abstract:Despite recent medical therapeutic advances, approximately one third of patients do not attain seizure freedom with medications. This drug-resistant epilepsy population suffers from heightened morbidity and mortality. In appropriate patients, resective epilepsy surgery is far superior to continued medical therapy.
