Stereochemical assignment of four monoterpene glucoside derivatives from Turpinia montana Kurz by NMR study combined with CD spectroscopy

Abstract

Turpinia genus (Staphyleaceae) consists of 10 species, including T. pentandra (Schltr.) B. L. Linden, T. brachypetala (Schltr.) B. L. Linden, T. montana Kurz, T. occidentalis (Sw.) G. Don, T. picardae Urb., T. paucijuga Lundell, T. malabarica Gamble, T. doanii Than Dinh Dai & Yakovlev, T. hatuyenensis Than Dinh Dai & Yakovlev, and T. simplicifolia Merr. T. montana Kurz has been used as a medicinal plant in Vietnam to treat osteoclastogenesis. 1 However, the phytochemical investigation of T. montana has not been investigated yet. This paper reported the isolation and structural elucidation of four new monoterpene glucosides from the leaves of T. montana (Figure 1).
