Abstract:The effect of pressure on the possible existence of multiple steady states in bubble column reactors is investigated. A mathematical model involving fast pseudo first-order kinetics is employed to describe the performance of non-isobaric, non-isothermal reactors. The numerical analysis reveals that the existence of multiplicity is sensitive to pressure variation, yet high-pressure operating conditions do not necessarily lead to a higher likelihood of multiplicity in these contactors.
