“…About 55.4% of respondents in this study practiced BSE, but only 28.5% of them practiced it monthly. Our findings were higher than that of an Iranian and Egyptian (AbdelFattah et al, 2000;Haji-Mahmoodi et al, 2002) and lower than in other Malay and Congo samples (Chee et al, 2003;Mbanaso et al, 2005). Additionally, amongst this study samples, newspapers and magazines were found the most common source of information on breastself examination (BSE) followed by information from medical health personnel.…”

“…Of all the teachers (307), only 111 (36.2%) had ever practiced BSE but only 27.6% were doing it monthly and this is less than the figure reported from a study by Mbanaso et al (2005) found that 84.0% of their study population practiced BSE, however only 47.9% of them performed it monthly. Variables such as higher level of education and years of service were not significant determinants of BSE practice in this study; age was significantly related to BSE practice and practice of BSE increased significantly with age from among those who were 20-29 years to those who were 40 years and above.…”

“…In our present study, since the response options were presented two ways to identify the time period on a monthly basis, two BSE frequencies were demonstrated separately. In this detailed calculation, women only practiced BSE on a monthly basis were found 9.5%, and those performed BSE regularly based on time (Mbanaso et al, 2005). In another study, only 10.2% Turkish women performed BSE regularly on a monthly basis, whereas 29.5% had practiced this method by themselves irregularly (Dundar et al, 2006).…”
