Statistical optimization of process parameters for the simultaneous adsorption of Cr(VI) and phenol onto Fe-treated tea waste biomass

Abstract: In this study, simultaneous removal of Cr(VI) and phenol from binary solution was carried out using Fetreated tea waste biomass. The effect of process parameters such as adsorbent dose, pH, initial concentration of Cr(VI) (mg/L), and initial concentration of phenol (mg/L) was optimized. The analysis of variance of the quadratic model demonstrates that the experimental results are in good agreement with the predicted values. Based on experimental design at an initial concentration of 55 mg/L of Cr(VI), 27.50 mg… Show more

“…RSM is a statistical technique for the study of the combined effects of independent process variables on a response or responses [41]. To study the interaction of the different process variables and their corresponding effects on the response (MB removal efficiency),two-dimensional (2D) contour plots and three-dimensional (3D) response surface plots against any two independent process variables were made while keeping the other process variables at their central (0) level.…”

“…The metal ions adsorbed fish scale impregnated on polyurethane foam separated from the adsorption process was then filled in the separation column and then the metal ions were stripped back using 10 ml 1M HCl at 1 ml per minute flow rate. The concentration of stripped metals was also checked for verification of adsorption efficiency [27][28][29] .…”
