Statistical Assessment of Business Intelligence System Adoption Model for Sustainable Textile and Apparel Industry

This study looked at the capacity development requirements of Home Economics teachers in South East Nigeria for computer-assisted pattern drafting training. A research question and a hypothesis led the investigation. Ex-post facto research was used in this study. A total of 131 Home Economics lecturers from universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in South East Nigeria were included in the study. Because of its manageable size, the complete population was investigated, so there was no sampling. Capacity Building Needs for Computer Assisted Teaching Questionnaire (CBNCATQ) was used for data collection. The instrument was face validated and tested for internal consistency using Cronbach Alpha Coefficient. Data obtained from the respondents were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Percentage, mean scores and standard deviation were used to answer the research question while the hypothesis was tested with a t-test at a 0.05 level of significance. The results of this study showed that training on the use of computers, ability to use various pattern drafting materials and equipment, availability of electricity to power equipment, and ability to follow basic principles of pattern drafting among others were capacity building needs of lecturers. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that lecturers should be given opportunities for in-service training on computer usage and workshops should be organized for the lecturers on the benefits of using computers in teaching.

PurposeA crucial question still remains unanswered as to whether data analytics-oriented business intelligence (hereafter, BI) technologies can bring organizational value and benefits. Thereby, several researchers called for further empirical research to extend the limited knowledge in this critical area. In an attempt to deal with this issue, we presented and tested a theoretical model to assess BI effectiveness at the organizational benefits level in this research article.Design/methodology/approachThe suggested research model expands the application of the DeLone and McLean model in BI technology success or effectiveness research from individual level to organizational level. A cross-sectional survey is developed to obtain primary quantitative data from business and technology managers who are depending on BI technologies to make operational, technical and strategic decisions in Jordanian-listed firms.FindingsEmpirical findings show that system quality, information quality and training quality are significant predictors of user satisfaction, but not of perceived benefit. Data quality was found to be a strong predictor of both perceived benefit and user satisfaction. The influence of perceived benefit on user satisfaction was significant in turn both factors positively affect organizational benefits.Originality/valueThis research paper is a pioneering effort to assess BI technology effectiveness at an organizational level outside the context of developed countries. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, no prior research has combined all dimensions used in this research in one single model.

Purpose There is a growing importance of business intelligence systems (BIS) adoption in today’s digital economy age which is characterized by uncertainty and ambiguity considering the magnitude and influence of data-related issues to be solved in contemporary businesses. This study aims to investigate critical success factors that affect business intelligence efficiency based on the DeLone and McLean model in Jordanian banking industry. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative research method through a questionnaire was used to collect data from actual users who depend on business intelligence tools to make operational and strategic decisions in Jordanian banks. The data obtained were tested using the partial least squares–structural equation modeling approach. Findings The survey findings attest that system quality, information quality, user quality, user satisfaction and user performance are important factors and contribute to business intelligence efficiency in the Jordanian banking industry. Practical implications The findings gained from this work can help policymakers in Jordanian banks to improve the business intelligence success and organizational performance. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first of its kind to propose a theoretical model to assess drivers of BIS efficiency from the Jordanian banks’ perspective.
