Experiments were carried out to determine the flow stability of slot-rectangular spouted beds of 300 × 100 mm cross-section with slots of different widths, lengths, and depths. The effects of slot expansion angle and diverging base were also investigated. Dependent variables included the minimum spouting velocity, bed pressure drop and standard deviation of pressure fluctuations. Based on the flow regimes and spout termination mechanisms, instability was found to be mainly due to the interaction of multiple spouts. Criteria were identified relating stable spouting to slot dimensions and particle size. Slots of limited cross-sectional area can provide sustainable and symmetric spouting with little fluctuation, as long as the slot length-to-width ratio and depth are within certain limits, related to those for conventional spouted beds.On a mené uneétude expérimentale sur la stabilité de l'écoulement dans un lità jet rectangulaire ayant une section transversale de 300 mm × 100 mm, dont les fentes ont différentes largeurs, longueurs et hauteurs. On a aussiétudié les effets de l'angle interne et d'une base divergente sur la vitesse minimum de giclage, la chute de pressionà travers le lit, et les fluctuations de pression. Basée sur les régimes d'écoulement et le mécanisme de terminaison du jet, l'instabilité aété attribuée aux interactions entre les jets avoisinants. On a identifié les critères reliant la stabilité du jet aux dimensions de la fente et de la taille des particules. Des fentes ayant une section transversale restreinte peuvent engendrer un giclage stable et symétrique avec peu de fluctuations, pourvu que le ratio longueur sur largeur et la profondeur de la fente soient tous les deux en dedans de certaines limites, reliéesà celles des litsà jet classique.

had lower amplitudes at r/R=0.3 because of the core of forced vortex. Nevertheless, the effect of the free vortex was that the pressure fluctuation with lower energy ratio of low frequency had higher amplitudes at r/R=0.8. The higher amplitudes of pressure fluctuation at cross sections of CS3 (z=420 mm) and CS5 (z=620 mm) proved that the transitions between the adjacent mixing element had better mixing performance.

A identificação e a distinção de regimes fluidodinâmicos típicos de leito de jorro foram realizadas através da obtenção de sinais de medidas de flutuação de pressão. As séries de tempo obtidas foram tratadas por análise no domínio do tempo, por média e desvio padrão das medidas de pressão, e no domínio da frequência, por Transformada Rápida de Fourier. Buscou-se caracterizar os principais regimes de contato nesse tipo de leito móvel, dando ênfase na frequência dominante e largura dos espectros de potência. Uma coluna cilíndrica de 0,21 m de diâmetro e de base cônica com inclinação de 60° foi empregada no estudo, e os sólidos utilizados foram pellets de poliuretano e sementes de soja. As condições experimentais utilizadas nos experimentos corresponderam a uma relação entre a altura do leito fixo e o diâmetro de coluna de 1:1 e 1,5:1; as medidas de flutuação de pressão foram realizadas em um ponto localizado logo acima do orifício de entrada do ar. A obtenção dos dados de flutuação de pressão foi feita utilizando transdutores de pressão ligados ao leito e a um sistema de aquisição de dados; as informações online do leito eram indicadas em uma rotina desenvolvida em software de aquisição de dados. Os parâmetros fluidodinâmicos foram obtidos através das curvas fluidodinâmicas. Por meio da análise espectral foi possível identificar e distinguir os principais regimes fluidodinâmicos em leito de jorro: leito fixo, jorro interno e jorro estável, esse último confirmado por observações visuais.
