Static, Vibration and Buckling Analysis of Skew Composite and Sandwich Plates Under Thermo Mechanical Loading

Abstract: Static, vibration and buckling behavior of laminated composite and sandwich skew plates is studied using an efficient C 0 FE model developed based on refined higher order zigzag theory. The C 0 FE model satisfies the interlaminar shear stress continuity at the interfaces and zero transverse shear stress conditions at plate top and bottom. In this model, the first derivatives of transverse displacement have been treated as independent variables to overcome the problem of C 1 continuity associated with the plate… Show more

“…130 A gap in the literature on solutions for laminated composite and sandwich skew plates based on refined theories was found. To overcome the problem of C 1 continuity associated with the plate theory, an efficient C 0 continuous isoparametric element model developed based on the refined higher order zigzag theory (HOZT) was used to estimate the global behavior of the sandwich skew plates, 131 and C 0 FE model is developed by implementing the inverse hyperbolic shear deformation theory and formulation has been generalized for all existing shear deformation theories involving shear strain function. 132 An improved C 0 plate FE model has been developed for the static analysis of a laminated soft core sandwich plate based on the RHSDT with a least square error (LSE) method to accurately calculate the deflections as well as stresses for different problems of composite and sandwich laminates.…”

“…The vibration behaviour of imperfect sandwich plates with in-plane partial edge load is presented by Chakrabarti and Sheikh [14] in a deterministic framework, while free vibration analyses of sandwich plates subjected to thermo-mechanical loads is studied by Shariyat [15] using a generalised global–local higher order theory. Many literatures [1620] are found which investigate on dynamic and stability of soft core sandwich plates by analytical or finite element method. Radial basis function is used by Roque et al.…”
