Static Synchronous Compensator Damping Controller Design Using Fast Output Sampling Feedback Technique

Abstract: In this article, the design of a damping controller for a static synchronous compensator using a fast output sampling feedback technique is presented. The proposed technique needs only the information of locally available signals, and moreover, by this technique, a very simple controller in the form of a simple gain matrix is obtained, which is effective over a range of operating conditions. Because of these two reasons, the control system designed by the proposed technique is very easy to implement. The effec… Show more

“…14 Based on direct linearization method, two damping controllers for STATCOM have been designed. 15,16 In spite of these developments, to the best of the authors' knowledge, there is very few works on coordinated control of the AVR and STATCOM. 17 It is well known that the motivation of linearization is to obtain a feedback equivalent linear system by canceling the internal nonlinearities of the considered systems.…”

“…1,3,12 In recent years, much work has been done on the coordination problem investigation of generator excitation and the STATCOM in multi-machine power systems. 2,4,1416 Hamiltonian and adaptive Hamiltonian methods have been used to design the controllers of STATCOM and excitation system coordinately. 2 Using feedback linearization method and zero dynamics method, 4 STATCOM and excitation system coordinated controllers in multi-machine power system have been designed.…”
