State of the Art Exploration Systems for Linked Data: A Review

Abstract: Abstract-The ever-increasing amount of data available on the web is the result of the simplicity of sharing data over the current Web. To retrieve relevant information efficiently from this huge dataspace, a sophisticated search technology, which is further complicated due to the various data formats used, is crucial. Semantic Web (SW) technology has a prominent role in search engines to alleviate this issue by providing a way to understand the contextual meaning of data so as to retrieve relevant, high-qualit… Show more

“…The fundamental idea of the LOD Explorer is to deliver an easy approach to discover, understand, and learn the published resources along with the W3C standards for Semantic Web The novelty of the proposed approach is the capability to straightaway explore a SPARQL endpoint utilizing the greatness of JavaScript and its libraries without the need of a server side module which has been used by other systems presented in [2], [4]. LOD Explorer uses the technologies of JSONP calls to the constructed endpoints fetching JSON formatted data to be parsed by JavaScript and presents the LOD resources in an HTML5 web page.…”

“…Some of approaches present LD as outline and table modes as in Tabulator 10 and Explorator 11 , others present LD as graphs as in Graphity 12 and RelFinder 13 , whereas a combination of both features can be found in other systems such as LODmilla 14 . Authors of [17] present a rich and state of the art survey of LD exploration systems.…”

“…Ontology acts an important role in the SW technology as it's famous as of the backbone of the SW structure, and is the vital element of SW infrastructure [8]. Web Ontology Language (OWL) and Resource Description Framework-Schema (RDFS) are the recommendations of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) for data representation models so as to deliver foundations for the ontology descriptions [4]. Ontologies provide distinct descriptions in their information, as a result, they are used in numerous fields and applications since its knowledge representation is understandable and processable by software agents and systems [9].…”
