State-of-the-Art Challenges and Perspectives in Multi-Organ Cancer Diagnosis via Deep Learning-Based Methods

Abstract: Thus far, the most common cause of death in the world is cancer. It consists of abnormally expanding areas that are threatening to human survival. Hence, the timely detection of cancer is important to expanding the survival rate of patients. In this survey, we analyze the state-of-the-art approaches for multi-organ cancer detection, segmentation, and classification. This article promptly reviews the present-day works in the breast, brain, lung, and skin cancer domain. Afterwards, we analytically compared the e… Show more

“…Since the error at the current layer is already known, deltas may be simply determined by calculating the derivative of activation function. The activation function is max(0; x ij 1 ) answer one or zero except for x ij 1 =0 when its derivative is not defined [ 38 ]. Following that, error must be transmitted to the preceding tier.…”

“…Several CAD systems have been developed for lung cancer detection [ 37 , 38 ]. As shown in Figure 1 , a CAD-based lung nodule detection system [ 14 ] usually consists of three main phases: data collection and pre-processing, training, and testing. There are two types of CAD systems: the detection system identifies specific anomalies according to interest regions, and the diagnostic system analyses lesion information, such as type, severity, stage, and progression.…”

“…The identification, segmentation, and classification of brain tumors have been the focus of numerous research efforts to date, but studies in this field are only getting started. The comprehensive review conducted by Ali et al [ 15 ] of the relevant literature revealed that deep learning technology ultimately produces fantastically realistic performances in the processing of brain tumor images. Classical machine learning, such as the support vector machine (SVM) is a dominant method for the classification of brain MRI.…”
