“…These devices also allow more complex minimally invasive, laparoscopic procedures to be performed. [3][4][5] While stapled colorectal anastomoses have not demonstrated reduction in complications, 6 stapled ileocolic anastomosis is associated with fewer leaks when compared to hand-sutured anastomosis. 7 Regardless, their use is widespread as tissue handling and operating time can be shortened considerably.…”

“…[14] Male gender, the use of staples, and divergent stoma have been reported as prognostic factors in the development of anastomotic stricture. [16,17] In some studies, it has been said that anastomoses under the peritoneal reflection are associated with a greater risk of stenosis. [18] In the past, surgical treatment was applied for all anastomotic strictures unresponsive to medical treatment; however, currently, noninvasive endoscopic methods have become more prominent.…”

“…The use of sutures or staples to create a colorectal anastomosis has not been shown to significantly alter the anastomotic leak rate in the study done by Lustosa et al [11], Docherty et al [12], and Nasirkhan et al [13].…”
