Abstract: The protocol is feasible and data suggest that there was an effect on attentino (matrices) and prose memory skills (MPI and MPD). The effect size reveals a general improvement in the results of the experimental group.

“…In most cases the results show a positive effect on mood, depression, and anxiety. Two studies revealed no significant effect of musical intervention [64,66] while in three studies both experimental and control group Choi et al [61] CCT (1) Positive trends for GDS and GQoL in music group. “…For example, one study found improved spontaneous speech content and language fluency (as measured by the Western Aphasia Battery speech subscale) in a group of mild to severely impaired persons with dementia following 2 months of music therapy, compared to conversation sessions. Another study examined the effect of a 12-week Sound Training for Attention and Memory and Dementia (STAR-Dem) program on persons with mild to severe dementia compared to a usual-care group (Ceccato et al, 2012). The authors found that the group with STAR-Dem training had significantly better pre–posttest scores on attention and prose memory but not the test of global cognition (Mini-Mental State Examination).…”
