Which national park attributes attract international tourists? A Sri Lankan case study

This study assesses how and in what circumstances tourists’ perceived value of nature-based tourism (NBT) attributes differ among various types of national parks. A novel discrete choice experiment is used employing data collected from 343 international tourists in four national parks in Sri Lanka. We find that the improvements in frequency of large species’ encounters, habitat quality and proximity to encountered wildlife produce greater utility. A surprising finding is that tourists are shown to prefer to spend only a limited amount of time at national parks. They also tend to choose less-visited parks that have large mammals for which they would be willing to pay more compared to those national parks that are more frequently visited. Our article contributes to the empirical evidence that time is a key factor that determines the tourism destination choice and less-visited parks offer considerable potential for future growth of tourism.

In the old industrial area renovation project, the conflict of interests of all parties involved in the project (local government, original enterprises, investors) is highlighted, so how to find out the balance of interests of all parties involved in the project, and maximize the satisfaction of the interests of all parties is of great significance. Based on the method of evolutionary game theory, this paper establishes a game model for the transformation of old industrial areas by sorting out the conflict of interests of the main parties in the transformation of old industrial areas, and analyzes three transformation modes of old industrial areas by combing the extended form of the model.

The lagoon systems have a varied biodiversity that harbors thousands of species of flora and fauna, which are harmed by anthropogenic activities; therefore, the present research aimed to estimate the Willingness to Pay (WTP) for the conservation of ecosystem services damaged by mining in the Pías Lagoon, Pataz Province, 2022; For this purpose, a questionnaire consisting of 22 questions was applied, divided into general data, socioeconomic factor, level of information and willingness to pay; these were filtered in the SPSS statistical software, to obtain a suitable degree of reliability through the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient; for the estimation of WTP, the STATA 16 statistical software was applied. 0, obtaining an individual value of S/. 9.00; monthly of S/. 5,592.61; and annual of S/. 67,111.37. It was identified that the majority of the population does not know about the ES provided by the lagoon. In addition, the length of residence, educational level, employment status, income, housing material and type of lighting, and water supply are socioeconomic factors that influence WTP. Finally, it was identified that in the lagoon there are Provision, Regulation, Cultural and Support Ecosystem Services.
