“…Within Malaysia, BIM has been more dominant in the private sector compared to the public sector (see Haron et al, 2015). Although the introduction of BIM in Malaysia has been made by the Director General of Public Works Department since 2007 (Husain et al, 2018), the uptake of this technology is still scarce (see Agus et al, 2019). As a result, variety initiatives have been taken in attempt to enhance BIM uptake, among them being the Malaysian BIM Steering Committee by the CIDB in 2013 followed by the Malaysian BIM Roadmap to target larger BIM use by 2025.…”

“…The absence of the complementary change in the skills of BIM users reverts old methods due to the lack of ways to convince that BIM is advantageous to professionalise and speed up their actions (Voordijk and Sloot, 2019;Rogers et al, 2015). Improved skills ensure effective working with BIM, a complex system (Afifuddin Husairi et al, 2018). Hence, the success of BIM adoption in an organisation comes with changes to existing technology, processes, skills and behaviours (Olatunji, 2014).…”

“…Justifications of non-relevance of BIM were quoted as "I found the old way more productive, I don't deal with BIM, it's primarily a design function tool, I do not operate BIM because my practice is too small to benefit, BIM is just the latest cliché item (p.19)". These fragmented views reinforce that the perceptions of the BIM users vary, and the degree of BIM use in organisations depends on them (Afifuddin Husairi et al, 2018). Thus, it is hard to bring successful outcomes of BIM with the negative perceptions regarding BIM use.…”

“…Furthermore, various stakeholders may have diverse perceptions, interpretations, and priorities of and regarding BIM. Understanding the possible impact of BIM on a particular stakeholders' interest can aid managers in overseeing BIM implementation more effectively and efficiently (Arayici et al, 2011a;Husain et al, 2018). Moreover, the BIM-enabled business process is reliant on what is considered to be BIM (Ayyaz et al, 2012).…”
