“…Indeed, if stakeholder theory (ST) might be considered as a segue of CSR (Carroll, 1991), these organisations emphasise the concept of stakeholders (Freeman, 1984), not only outlining specific groups but even considering actions that have a large set of stakeholders as beneficiaries (Hess et al, 2002; Matten & Moon, 2008; Waddock, 2008). Given that stakeholders' conceptualisation of the objectives of sustainable development is debated, especially regarding its relationship with CSR (Campra et al, 2020; López‐Concepción et al, 2021), it is undoubtable that the essence of an NGO is to give answers to stakeholders who cannot find them in the market and through public interventions (Weisbrod, 1988). This even extends to the entire planet, such as the case of those initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse emissions, through advocacy activities aiming to modify both market and public activities towards the respect of the environment.…”
