Stable multi-jet electrospinning with high throughput using the bead structure nozzle

Abstract: A modified bead structure nozzle for the electrospinning process was developed to improve the production efficiency of nanofibers and facilitate the cleaning of equipment. The effects of the flow rate, voltage and receiving distance on the number of jets were studied. The results indicate that the number of stable jets can be effectively controlled by spinning conditions. The rotating spinning phenomenon, which occurred during spinning, was subjected to force analysis. The COMSOL Multiphysics model was applied… Show more

“…Probably, the observed changes in the blend peaks are related to PVA and MA effects on the blended polymer. 30,33,34 For all separators, the absorption peak at 2,244 cm −1 corresponds to the stretching vibration of the nitrile group. 14 Sharp intense absorptions at 2,932 and 1,452 cm −1 can be assigned to CH asymmetric and symmetric stretching, respectively, these two peaks are the most characteristic peaks of pure PAN.…”

“…As noted above, by increasing the amount of hydrophilic PVA, the fiber interconnection increases. 33 Even though an increase in the concentration of PVA and MA increases the viscosity of the solution and results in thicker fibers. 40 The addition of MA as a good cross-linker has helped to build the network structure, which is also shown in Figure 2.…”

“…According to the electrospinning raw materials, it can be divided into melt electrospinning [46][47][48], solution electrospinning [49,50] and mixed electrospinning [51][52][53]. According to the design of the spray head, it can be classified as needleless electrospinning [54][55][56], coaxial or triaxial electrospinning [57][58][59][60][61][62], multi-jet electrospinning [63][64][65], etc. The application of electrospinning technology will be described below according to different situations.…”

“…Scaling up the production rate so as to fulfill the industrial needs has been the bottleneck in commercializing electrospinning. Research efforts have been put on developing multiple needle electrospinning and inventing needleless electrospinning . Needleless electrospinning has attracted extensive attention due to its capacity in mass production.…”
