Stabilization of Polymers

Abstract: This review covers the fundamental aspects of polymer stabilization with emphasis on the underlying mechanisms of oxidative degradation of polymers, and the many factors that affect their stability and durability. The basic mechanisms of antioxidant action in polymer stabilization and the effects of chemical and physical factors that impact performance are presented. The different classes of antioxidants are discussed with specific examples. Recent progress made in several areas of stabilization targeted at im… Show more

“…With the increase of temperature, CuC 5 H 4 O 4 plays the role of Lewis acid and reduction coupling simultaneously 4,10,11,62,63 . Not only could it prevent the backbiting of the PVC polyene segment that removes HCl and reduce the formation of aromatic compounds but also it could catalyze polyene chain segments to form a network structure through Friedel–Crafts cross‐linking reaction and carbonization, hindering the breakage of CC bond.…”
