Stabilization of internal spaces in multidimensional cosmology

Abstract: Effective 4-dimensional theories are investigated which were obtained under dimensional reduction of multidimensional cosmological models with a minimal coupled scalar field as a matter source. Conditions for the internal space stabilization are considered and the possibility for inflation in the external space is discussed. The electroweak as well as the Planck fundamental scale approaches are investigated and compared with each other. It is shown that there exists a rescaling for the effective cosmological c… Show more

“…Studies of late evolution of the radion around its potential minimum b 0 have mainly focused on the resolution of the moduli problem [1,10,12,13]: How do we dilute the energy in radion oscillations which at the end of inflation is high enough to overclose the universe? Here we assume that the radion is stabilized at b 0 either by a short period of late inflation or by some other mechanism.…”

“…We investigated stability of some of these models under the conformal excitations which are functions of 4-D space-time. Such excitations are of special interest because they behave as massive minimal scalar fields in 4-D space-time, for example can be observed as massive scalar particles -gravitational excitons on branes, as it takes place in the Kaluza-Klein approach [1,6].…”

“…Thus, in this model Λ b) De Sitter brane (symmetric solution) 6 In this paper we focus on the problem of stability of considered models and not discuss cosmology on branes. It is clear that from the point of an observer on a brane, physical metric is the induced metric on this brane (let it be i-th brane):…”
