“…Vibrating‐mesh nebulizers can also successfully deliver poorly water‐soluble drugs to the lungs from dispersed systems, such as nanosuspensions . The drug particle size of nanosuspensions can be maintained for this particular aerosolization, including nanoparticles prepared using freeze‐drying with different lyoprotectants . Active vibrating‐mesh nebulizers have shown to present superior aerosolization performance compared to a passive vibrating‐mesh system when tested with a suspension of nondeformable, latex microspheres, although incurring in particle fragmentation .…”

“…Crosslinking Lactose is disaccharides carbohydrate where according to Packheuser et al at 5% concentration resulted physical characteristics of stable microspheres [11]. Maltodextrin is selected because as the potential lyoprotectants on protein lyophilisation [12], Fig 1 and 2 show obvious bonds indicated some functional groups of maltodextrin and lactose.…”

“…If, for example, the registered force is stronger than it should be, the piezoelectric transducer moves the tip away from the specimen surface and vice versa. Since the voltage applied to the z-piezo changes in accordance with the topography of the Particle surface morphology (Götzinger and Peukert, 2003;Hooton et al, 2006a;Packhaeuser et al, 2009;Ward et al, 2005) …”

“…To date, lactose tends to be the carrier material of choice-but researchers (Hooton et al, 2006b;Kaialy et al, 2011Kaialy et al, , 2010Nokhodchi, 2012, 2013a,b;Packhaeuser et al, 2009) are working towards the use of sugar based substitutes such as mannitol, raffinose, trehalose, xylitol and cyclodextrin; novel materials such as polymer nano-carriers (Paranjpe and Müller-Goymann, 2014); and the development of carrier free formulations (Healy et al, 2014). AFM has been used to evaluate the morphology of freeze-dried mannitol, a promising carrier species (Packhaeuser et al, 2009).…”
