Transformation crisis in post‐socialist countries: patterns and causes

“…Surprisingly, this did not essentially change in spite of the fact that, later on, a slump spread over the remaining post-socialist countries which have been characterized by different initial conditions, and have followed distinct transformation paths. In a previous paper (Zukowski, 1993), I suggested that the causes of such a widespread slump should be explored in some common circumstances related to the demise of an ancient system and the transition to market economy.
