Stability of tris-1,10 - phenanthroline iron (II) complex in different composites

Abstract: The composition of composites has a huge impact on the stability of tris-1,10--phenanthroline iron (II) complex during the determination of total iron. The subject of this work is the determination of the stability of tris-1,10-phenanthroline iron (II) complex in different composites. The composites with different concentration in which total iron was determined were alumina and zeolite. The stability of this complex was monitored in the time period of 0-60 min. The aim of this work is to determine the concent… Show more

“…The samples of alumina used in the study were obtained from the bauxite of boehmite type from the locations in Milici and Siroki Brijeg, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The presence of aluminium oxide hydrated with one molecule of water (Al 2 O 3 •H 2 O) is a common characteristic of the bauxite from these locations, and that dominant mineral form is present in the quantity of 58.00% in the bauxite of Milici and 50.44% in the bauxite from the location of Siroki Brijeg [6]. The diffractograms of the sample of Milici bauxite and Siroki Brijeg bauxite are presented in Figures no.…”

“…The detection limit and the uncertainty for Mg and K concentration analyses were 0.5 ppb and 3%, respectively. The Fe concentration was determined by colorimetry, measuring the absorption of the Fe (II)-1,10-phenanthroline complex (Lazic et al, 2010;Pyenson and Tracy, 1945).…”
