Stability of Software Trustworthiness Measurements Models

Abstract: The software trustworthiness is an important feature for the safety and security of cyber-physical system. Therefore, how to assess software trustworthiness is the key issue. Tao has recently given five measurement models of software trustworthiness based on the attributes of software in his Doctoral Dissertation and his publications. After simulating these models with the Monte Carlo method, we find out that these models have a common shortcoming that the trustworthy degree would not be within the same range … Show more

“…Four desirable properties of the attributebased software trustworthiness measurement are first proposed in [18], that is, monotonicity, acceleration, sensitivity, and substitutivity. Reference [19] extends the above property set and introduces stability. This property describes that the software trustworthiness value must be greater than or equal to the minimum trustworthy attribute value and less than or equal to the maximum trustworthy attribute value.…”

“…Reference [17] further extends the above works and establishes a set of properties that the module-based software trustworthiness measurement models should satisfy. These above properties have been applied successively to the theoretical validation of the software trustworthiness measurement models constructed in [17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24].…”

“…Many measures based on trustworthy attributes are established. In view of the use of more rigorous methods to evaluate software trustworthiness and theoretical validation of models, Tao et al apply axiomatic approaches to assess software trustworthiness, present the desirable properties of software trustworthiness measures and establish a series of measures complying with these properties [8][9][10][11][12][13][14]. Ding et al combine utility theory and evidence theory to measure software trustworthiness [15].…”
