Abstract:Stability of blood constituents after mail transport was examined using two different automated haematology instruments, that is, Coulter Counter S plus II and Technicon H 6000. The results were analysed by two different statistical methods. In all but four cases these methods yielded similar results. The B-LPC, B-EPC B-Hb, B-EVF, E-MCH, E-MCHC and B-TPC were stable after mail transport for 48 h when measured with Coulter Counter S plus II. In contrast, none of these parameters were stable when measured with T… Show more
A supplement to a bibliography (Scand J Clin Lab Invest 1987;47 suppl. 187:l-96) dealing with quality assurance in the clinical laboratory is presented. The increasing role of national and international standardizing bodies is stressed as well as implementation of rules of "good laboratory practice". Objectively established quality goals for all services is highly needed in order to provide a rationale for the efforts dedicated to quality improvements. Quality goals for many clinical chemistry and haematology investigations are now available. Eur J Haematol 1990: 45 suppl. 53: 22-38 The approved recommendation from IFCC/IUPAC (1987a) on quantities and units for activity and coefficient of activity utilized a slightly different format for the presentation of a result than recommended in a document for other clinical chemistry quantities (IFCC/IUPAC 1979, seeunder Abbreviations page 6in Uldall (1987)). The format used in case of activity

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
