Abstract:An investigation was carried out to characterize the dissolution behavior of stabilized and unstabilized CrO2 particles in water, used in magnetic recording. Special attention was paid to the measurement of Cr(VI) concentration in the contact solution and to the elucidation of the effects of the stabilizing treatment by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The experimental results indicate that both stabilized and unstabilized CrO2 particles predominantly release hexavalent chromium when in contact with wat… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
