Stability and performance analysis of wireless powered communication networks

Abstract: In RF-based wireless powered communication networks (WPCNs), the wireless charging rate at a device is usually low or unstable because of health concerns or time-varying characteristics of wireless channels. Under a low charging rate, the data backlog at a wireless device may be continuously increasing, leading to system performance degradation and data loss. To keep a wireless powered device stable and preserve a finite data backlog, the upper limit of data arrival/acquisition rate at a wireless powered devic… Show more

“…In this way, it can also ensure that the CWPCN will not be limited by spectrum resources. In general, they focused on some key issues in WPCNs, such as energy harvesting, collaboration, throughput optimization, etc., and provided important theoretical and practical guidance for the research of future WPCNs (Table 1) [8][9][10][11][12][13].…”

“…In the past, conventional MAC protocols were designed under the assumption that the energy of wireless sensors is unlimited or the energy depletion problem is negligible. However, the energy shortage in a wireless powered sensor brings a significant impact on the system performance of WPSNs [ 20 ]. Therefore, novel energy-aware MAC protocols for WPSNs have to be carefully designed by considering the energy statuses of wireless sensors.…”

“…Batteries in a wireless device are not able to provide endless power and the challenge for long-term and self-sustainable operation becomes a research theme. Li et al 8 proposes a novel two-dimensional continuous-time Markov chain model for analyzing the stability condition of a wireless powered device with a finite energy storage buffer.…”
