Bendungan Gunungrowo dibangun sejak tahun 1925 terletak pada Sungai Wadi. Bendungan ini mempunyai tipe urugan tanah homogen dan mempunyai tinggi 20,5 m, dengan kapasitas tampungan 5,11 juta m3 untuk mensuplai air irigasi seluas 6.000 ha. Karena masa operasionalnya yang sudah mendekati 100 tahun maka perlu mengevaluasi tingkat stabilitas keamanan bendungannya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk 1) mengetahui stabilitas keamanan rembesan dari berbagai skenario ketinggian muka air waduk; 2) mengetahui stabilitas keamanan lereng (Safety Factor) dari berbagai skenario ketinggian muka air waduk; 3) mengetahui variabel permeabilitas core berpengaruh terhadap rembesan ditubuh bendungan, dan 4) mengetahui variabel permeabilitas core berpengaruh terhadap stabilitas lereng di tubuh bendungan. Pembahasan utama yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah melakukan analisis stabilitas keamanan bendungan dengan memanfaatkan software GeoStudio-2012 dengan fitur SEEP/W pada debit rembesan dan SLOPE/W pada FK (Faktor Keamanan) lerengnya. Pemodelan pada SEEP/W ini menggunakan konsep saturated soil mechanics. Parameter yang diinput untuk analisis stabilitas lereng adalah dimensi bendungan, jenis material, berat isi (γ), kohesi (c), dan sudut geser (j). Kajian dilakukan pada semua nilai debit rembesan dan semua nilai FK pada saat muka air berada pada elevasi minimum, normal, muka air banjir dan surut cepat dengan perhitungan tanpa beban gempa. Hasil kajian diperoleh nilai FK, nilai debit, stabil terhadap bahaya longsor dan bahaya piping memenuhi syarat aman. Selanjutnya dari nilai debit rembesan dan nilai FK dikaji bagaimana pengaruh variabel permeabilitas core bendungan terhadap bahaya piping dan potensi bahaya longsor. Dari hasil analisis disimpulkan bahwa semakin besar nilai permeabilitas semakin besar debit rembesan dan jika semakin besar nilai permeabilitas akan semakin kecil nilai faktor keamanannya.

Qualitative and quantitative assessments evaluate the structural vulnerability of liquid storage tanks. Liquid storage tanks are typically constructed and operated in areas with hard soils to minimize confining influences. However, many of these critical structures are in coastal areas with soft soils. The research conducted in this study entails the utilization of the finite element method accurately model the seismic behavior of a semi-buried concrete tank under various conditions, including changing water levels and soil properties. The study examines fluid–structure and soil–structure interactions through dynamic analyses of the rectangular semi-buried tank and comparing its different parameters. It also identifies sensitive areas where there is a probability of liquid leakage in storage tanks. The modeling is compared with the qualitative evaluation in the Japanese vibration capability diagnosis table. The results show that the tensile stress in the wall adjacent to the expansion joint is greater than the corresponding stress in the wall in all cases. In the dynamic analyses of the soil types, the pressure on the surface increases with increasing water height. A comparison of the quantitative and qualitative evaluation results shows the possible leakage of the tank in soft soil in the expansion joint.

In order to find out radon reduction performance of the overburden layer on uranium mill tailings (UMTs) pond beach surface after rainfall, the rainfall simulation experiment of the overburden layer was carried out with the self-developed equipment. Based on the radon migration model of the overburden layer on the UMTs pond beach surface, the change rule of radon exhalation in four types of compactness of the overburden layer within 120 hours after rainfall was studied, and the corresponding moisture content was also analyzed. The results show that the radon concentration in the overburden layer of UMTs increases nonlinearly; the dynamic change in moisture content of the overburden layer on the beach surface leads to the unsteady radon exhalation. The variation of radon exhalation shows three stages: increase, linear decrease, and stability tendency. After rainfall, radon exhalation rate increases due to water vapor and there is free radon seepage in pores. With the decrease of free radon production rate, radon exhalation rate gradually decreases until it reaches stability again. When the thickness of the overburden layer reduces, the porosity decreases with the increase in compactness of the overburden layer. While the decrease in radon reduction is more obvious, the less time it takes for radon exhalation to vary from unstable to stable overburden after rainfall.
