Stability analysis for grain yield and quality traits in selected traditional and improved varieties of rice over different Zones of Karnataka

Abstract: Traditional rice varieties (TRVs) form important components of genetic reservoir. TRVs used in study viz., Rajamudi, Ratnachoodi and Jeerigesanna are photosensitive. They may exhibit Genotype by Environment (G×E) interactions for grain yield and quality traits. Hence, present experiment was conducted to understand responses of yield and quality traits in selected traditional along with improved varieties of rice over five different locations of Karnataka using additive main effects and multiplicative interacti… Show more

“…It was found in present study that environmental mean variations were very higher than genotypic mean variations for most of the quality characters (Table 2). Hence, test locations were diverse and present results were in harmony with results of Adesole and Yetunde (2016) [1] and Ashwini et al, 2019 [2] . The first interaction principal component i.e IPCA (I) values predicts the stability of the studies genotypes over the target environments.…”

“…Amylose content was responsible for texture and appearance and from the amylose content biplot (Fig. 10) the hybrids viz., A 1 R 5 (2), A 4 R 6 (18) and A 2 R 4 (7) were stable with zero IPCA and low (<24.08%) mean. The performance of hybrids for amylose content was similar in Warangal and Ragolu locations.…”
