SS: Advances in Deepwater Riser Technology: Gulf of Mexico Wet Tree Deepwater Riser Concepts with Sour Service

Abstract: This paper details the methodology and knowledge obtained from a recent riser concept study for a deepwater development in the Gulf of Mexico. The proposed development is a wet tree development tied back to a floating facility with sour production service. Semi submersibles, Spars and Tensioned Leg Platforms are considered in combination with steel catenary riser, lazy wave riser and single vertical import riser (SVIR). The riser design is challenging due to the requirement of artificial lift… Show more

“…The SCR pipe is bundled with a normal coating of thickness 75 mm and density 800 kg/m 3 for preliminary design purposes (Bai and Bai 2005;Deka et al 2010). Many fresh discoveries of deepwater fields are in regions where soft clay is detected.…”

“…In the global analysis, the top end is modeled as pinned, which means it is free to rotate. The SCR pipe is bundled with a normal coating thickness 75 mm and density of 800kg/m3 for preliminary design purposes [11,12], The static vessel offset regarding the oper ating extreme response analysis is 10% of water depth for intact mooring and 12% for one mooring line failure condition. Many fresh discoveries of deepwater fields are in regions where soft clay is detected.…”
