Squeeze Film Damper Bearing With Double-Ended Beam Springs: Part II — Experimental Validation

Abstract: To validate a new squeeze film damper (SFD) bearing design introduced in [1], a pair of 3.5 inch SFD bearings were manufactured and tested. Static spring compression test was conducted to prove the spring design stiffness calculated through the geometry parametric spring model. High cycle loading fatigue testing of the spring was conducted to validate the design spring fatigue limit.
