Abstract:A new type of valve is introduced, the square-root valve, in which the valve stem radius is machined to vary as the square root of the turn number N. The open area then varies in direct proportion to the turn number, and the measured flow rate Qs(N) was found to be adequate to allow this valve to be used in an automatic feedback control system. As the flow-rate function will generally depend on the source and load impedances, a systematic method to empirically obtain precise linear (or other) flow-rate functio… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
