“…5 An underlying problem has been the relative insolubility of platinum-bipyridyl complexes in organic solvents, and recent work has started to utilise substituted bipyridines to overcome this problem. 6 We report here the synthesis and characterisation of a new class of platinum-bipyridyl compounds, containing a substituted bipyridyl ligand and σ-bonded acetylides in the remaining co-ordination sites.
