Abstract: Squalene epoxidase (SQLE) is a key enzyme in the mevalonate–cholesterol pathway that plays a critical role in cellular physiological processes. It converts squalene to 2,3-epoxysqualene and catalyzes the first oxygenation step in the pathway.
