Spun bonding Technology and Fabric Properties: a Review

Abstract: The process of making spun bond fabrics combines the production of fabrics with the production of filaments. High process efficiencies and excellent properties of these fabrics have made them acceptable in different areas of application like civil engineering, medical and hygiene, automotive industry, shoe industry and packaging. Controlling the structure and properties of the fabric is a difficult task as there are several process parameters affecting fabric properties besides the structure and properties of … Show more

“…The spunbond process combines the spinning and sheet formation process into one continuous, nonwoven manufacturing system [57,58]. As seen in Figure 4, the spunbond process consists of several integrated steps, namely, extruder, gear pump, spinpack, quencher, collector, bonder, and winder.…”

“…The main reason for this is that the single layer fabrics are passed through the calender once (1 time). The fact that two (2) and three (3) layer fabrics were calendered for the second time is considered to be the reason for the performance tests of single layer fabrics to give better values. The fact that the working conditions of the multi layer fabrics (calender properties (metal, aging time, tooth length etc,), calender pressure and calender working speeds) are the same supports that the difference in test results stems only from calender temperatures.…”

“…Spunbond üretim teknolojisi, 1950'lerin sonunda geliştirilmesine rağmen, ticari uygulamaları ancak 1960'larda kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Spunbond kumaşlar mükemmel özellikleri ve yüksek işlem verimliliği nedeniyle hızla gelişmiştir[2][3][4]. Baskı silindirinden geçen yığın filamentler birbirlerine tutunması amacıyla kalender sisteminden geçirilir.…”
