“… 58 Guaiacol is reported to be found in the urine of patients with neuroblastoma and pheochromocytoma. 62 Guaiacol was found to be overexpressed by 1.76 folds in IDC with respect to HC group and had a VIP score of 1.38 in our study. The up-regulation pattern of guaiacol in IDC is suggestive of its potential role in cell proliferation since it is one of the primary characteristics of the malignant cells.…”

“…Guaiacol, a methoxyphenol compound, is produced through the pyrolysis of lignin and has also been proposed as a marker of WS exposure. However, unlike levoglucosan, guaiacol may be carcinogenic as it can enhance cell proliferatation and has been found in the urine of patients with neuroblastoma 48 . Interestingly, guaiacol has been identified as a potent antioxidant 49 with good reactive species scavenging potential.…”
