Sporoderm-broken spore powder of Ganoderma lucidum ameliorate obesity and inflammation process in high-fat diet-induced obese mice

Abstract: Objective: This study examined the anti-obesity and anti-inflammatory effects of sporoderm-broken spore powder of Ganoderma lucidum (SSPL) against obese mice fed with a high-fat diet. Methods: Four groups of C57BL/6J mice were randomly assigned to the following diets: control diet (CD); high-fat diet (HD); high-fat diet plus l-carnitine (HDL); and high-fat diet with sporoderm-broken spore powder of Ganoderma lucidum (HDG). They were subjected to 12 weeks of testing. Results: Supplementation with SS… Show more

“…42,43 C57BL/6 becomes obese, hyperglycemic, insulin-resistant, and susceptible to liver steatosis when fed a high-fat diet. 44,45 In this study, the C57BL/6N strain, subjected to high dietary fat for 12 weeks, showed increased efficiency of fat storage and manifested insulin resistance and liver steatosis. Interestingly, supplementation with 10% RLP improved HDF-induced obesity, metabolic disorders, and liver steatosis.…”

“…Phillygenin, an extract of Forsythia suspensa , could reduce liver lipid deposition and serum ALT, AST levels in NAFLD mice induced by high-fat diet ( Zhou W et al, 2022 ). Ganoderma lucidum spore powder could protect mice against developing obesity caused by increased fat intake by regulating inflammatory factors and lipid metabolism ( Zhong et al, 2022 ). Gandan Shukang capsule had the best effect in reducing serum GGT level.…”

“…Sporoderm-broken spore powder of Ganoderma lucidum (SSPL) contains all the active components of Ganoderma lucidum and has a relatively high GLP content [ 42 ]. Zhong et al experimentally found that compared with the control group of mice on a HFD, mice in the SSPL-treated group showed a significantly slower rate of weight gain and significantly lower levels of SREBP-1c, PPARγ, FAS, and TG in the liver [ 43 ]. These findings suggest that GLP-rich SSPL can slow down the process of obesity by inhibiting adipogenesis by regulating the SREBP pathway.…”
