This study aims to analyze the effect of the relationship among leg volume, leg mass and flexibility on success in university student elite gymnasts. It was conducted on Haliç University, Marmara University, Çukurova University and University of Kırşehir Ahi Evran gymnastics teams (male and female) which took part in Turkish Intercollegiate Gymnastics Championship and, later, voluntarily participated in this study. While years of age, height and weight of male gymnasts participating in the study were 21.20±1.57, 174.00±4.57 and 67.60±6.46 kg, respectively, the same values were 21.00±2.65 years of age, 165.31±4.60 cm and 54.62±4.63 kg for female gymnasts, respectively. Spearman correlation analysis was performed using SPSS 22.0 package program for Windows, the level of significance was taken as 0.05. The analysis results indicate a highly positive significant correlation (r=.761, p<0.001) between leg volume and leg mass in male gymnasts, a highly positive significant correlation (r=.674, p<0.01) between leg volume and leg mass in female gymnasts, a highly positive significant correlation (r=.795, p<0.001) between leg volume and leg mass in male and female gymnasts, a low positive significant correlation (r=.361, p<0.05) between leg volume and success in male and female gymnasts, and a moderate positive significant correlation (r=.463, p<0.05) between leg mass and success in male and female gymnasts. As a result, gymnastics as a sport requires a combination of speed, strength, endurance, agility, and flexibility. Speed, strength, agility and flexibility are important parameters for training and performance. In addition, an optimal amount of leg volume (13000 ml, 14000 ml) and leg mass (13-14 kg) contribute to success in elite gymnasts.

This study aims to scale average leg volume and mass scales of elite male and female athletes in some olympicsports. A total of 280 elite athletes comprising of 200 males and 80 females studying at School of Physical Educationand Sports at University of Kirsehir Ahi Evran voluntarily participated in this study. Frustum and Hanavan methodswere used to determine leg volume and mass, respectively. SPSS 22.0 package program for Windows was used fordescriptive statistics analysis of the study. The present study found average leg volume and mass scale of maleathletes in football, basketball, volleyball, handball, gymnastics and wrestling and female athletes in football,basketball, volleyball, handball, gymnastics, box, taekwondo and tennis. It was observed in the related scale that legvolume of the athletes in the lowest weight classes in weight sports were lower. In other words, leg volume and massof the athletes were in direct proportion to their weight class. When the scale of female athletes is analyzed, it can benoted that volleyball players have the highest leg volume and mass among team sports players.

Amaç: Günümüzde sporcuların kuvvetlerini geliştirmek için farklı antrenman yöntemleri kullanılmaktadır. Bu sebeple birden fazla antrenman metodu bulunmakta ve bu metotların da birbirinden farklı etkileri olabilmektedir. Kuvvet gelişimi için uygulanan yöntemlerden birisi de kan akışı kısıtlama antrenman metodudur. Bu çalışmanın amacı, alt ekstremiteye kan akışı kısıtlama (KAK) yöntemi ile uygulanan düşük şiddetli kuvvet antrenmanının bacak hacmi, bacak kütlesi ve bacak kuvveti üzerine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Materyal ve Metot: Çalışmaya 16-18 yaşları arasında 24 voleybolcu kadın gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Katılımcılar kan akışı kısıtlama antrenman grubu (KAKG) ve klasik hipertrofi antrenman grubu (KHG) olarak 12 kişilik iki gruba ayrılmıştır. KAKG maksimal kuvvetlerinin %20-40’ı ile, KHG ise maksimal kuvvetlerinin %70-80’i ile dört hafta boyunca haftanın üç günü alt ekstremiteyi içeren ve beş hareketten oluşan bir antrenman programı uygulamıştır. Çalışmanın başlangıcında ve dört hafta sonunda katılımcıların segmental vücut kompozisyon analizleri Tanita BC 418 vücut analiz monitörüyle, bacak kuvvetleri bacak dinamometresi ile, bacak hacimleri Frustum yöntemi ile, bacak kütleleri ise Hanavan yöntemi ile belirlenmiştir. Bulgular: Çalışma verilerinin analizinde Wilcoxon işaretli sıralar testi kullanılmıştır. İstatiksel analiz sonucunda, yağsız kütle ağırlığı (YKA), bacak kuvveti, bacak hacmi ve bacak kütlesi her iki grupta da artış gösterirken, bu artışın KAKG’de KHG’ye göre daha yüksek seviyede olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç: KAK yöntemi ile uygulanan kuvvet antrenmanlarının hem düşük şiddette çalışılması hem de zamanın daha ekonomik kullanılması açısından KH antrenmanlarına güçlü bir alternatif yöntem olarak uygulanabileceği görülmüştür. Özellikle genç sporcuların kısa zamanda ağır yüklerin altına giremeyeceği göz önünde bulundurularak gençlerde kuvvet antrenmanlarının aşamalı olarak KAK yöntemi ile yapılması önerilebilir.
