Spontaneous symmetry breaking of Kerr cavity solitons

Abstract: We report numerical and experimental observations of spontaneous symmetry breaking of Kerr cavity solitons. We show that cavity solitons with mirror polarization states can co-exist and be individually addressed in a symmetric fiber ring resonator.
