This study reports on the spontaneous polarization and molecular dynamics of two diastereomeric ferroelectric liquid crystals with a phenyl core ring but with different types of diastereomeric structures. The magnitudes of spontaneous polarization, measured via an Automated LC Property Tester, were similar for the two ferroelectric liquid crystals. The complex dielectric spectra, measured via an impedance analyzer, indicated the existence of the Goldstone mode in the ferroelectric (SmC * ) phase for the two ferroelectric liquid crystals. Moreover, a novel ferrielectric-like (SmCγ * -like) phase was observed at certain temperatures. The complex dielectric spectra of the two ferroelectric liquid crystals were optimally analyzed by a theoretical model composed of the Debye model and the Cole-Cole model. The physical parameters such as relaxation frequency and dielectric strength were determined by a dielectric relaxation study, and the obtained parameters varied in accordance with phase transition sequence. The experimental results of dielectric spectra and spontaneous polarization are explained in the discussion of the mesomorphic properties related to the ferroelectric liquid crystal molecular structure.

The electrical response depends on the frequency 𝜔 of the measuring electric field, the cut-off frequency 𝜔 𝑅𝐶 and the resonance frequency 𝜔 𝐿𝐶 for an empty cell. For a filled cell, the electrical property (permittivity versus frequency) of the investigated medium is also important. In this supplement, 3D plots are presented. They show how the electrical response gradually changes under different conditions. In two tables below, the formulas for calculating the electrical response for empty cells (Table S1) and filled cells (Table S2) are shown. They were used to prepare all 3D Figures presented in the supplement. Knowing how the measurement system distorts the measurement results, we can calculate the real properties of the liquid crystal from the experiment. This supplement presents, with short comments, all possible cases which can be found in impedance spectroscopy measurements. One can call this supplement: "Atlas of electrical response, in impedance spectroscopy of liquid crystals, changed by parasitic effects". Table S1. Current bifurcation, reversals and multiple mobility transitions of dipole in alternating electric fields

Anomalous transports of dipole in alternating electric fields are investigated by means of numerical calculation of its average angular velocity (or current). Our results show that the alternating electric fields can make the dipole exhibit many interesting transport behaviors. There exist current bifurcation and multiple current reversals phenomena about frequency of the alternating electric fields in the system in the absence of constant bias force, while many platforms appear in the curve of its average angular velocity vs. the force, i.e., multiple mobility transitions phenomenon in the presence of the constant force, dependent on frequencies of the alternating electric fields. Further investigation indicates that the multiple mobility transitions are attributed to the traveling forces on the dipole. Intrinsic physical mechanism and conditions for the characteristic dynamical behaviors to occur are also discussed in detail. These findings will possess crucial significance for optimizing heating control in the alternating electric fields.
