Spontaneous echo contrast of unexpected etiology

Abstract: Cor triatriatum sinister is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by the presence of a fibromuscular membrane dividing the left atrium into two chambers: one entering the four pulmonary veins, the other connecting to the mitral valve. The extent of the communication between the two chambers and the presence of associated lesions determine the severity of symptoms and the complications. We report the case of a 20-year-old man firstly diagnosed with obstructive cor triatriatum sinister and severe pulmonary hyp… Show more

“…There is increasing evidence suggesting that miRNAs play critical roles in many key biological processes, such as cell growth, tissue differentiation, cell proliferation, embryonic development, cell proliferation, and apoptosis [ 34 ]. Aberrant expression of miRNAs including mutation, dysfunction, and dysregulation of miRNAs and their targets may result in various diseases, such as cancers [ 34 , 35 ], cardiovascular disease [ 36 , 37 ], schizophrenia [ 38 , 39 ], psoriasis [ 40 ], and primary muscular disorders [ 41 ]. In the meantime, miRNAs have been great interest in utilizing miRNAs as a nonpharmaceutical approach to treat numerous diseases including HIV-1, HSV, Dengue, Influenza, and hepatitis C (HCV).…”

“…Contrary to adults, AF is an uncommon finding in paediatric populations, where it is present in up to 4% of the cases 24 30–33. Some adults with obstructive membrane physiology may present with non-specific symptoms, such as haemorrhage, making this a challenging diagnosis 40–45…”

“…In the past recent years, many reports have identified miRNAs as signature biomarkers that play a critical role in various cellular processes, such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, and embryonic development [31]. Dysregulation in the expression status of miRNAs has been associated with several diseases including viral diseases, cancer [31,32], diabetes, schizophrenia [33,34], psoriasis [35], and cardiovascular disease [36].…”
