Besonders einige auff~illige Befunde am Filum terminale (f. t.) regten uns zur histologisehen Untersuehung an. Wir waren in der Lage diese Ver~inderun-gen in Vergleieh mit f. t. yon nieht an orthop~idisehen oder neurologisehen Erkrankungen Leidenden zu setzen. Dies besonders im Hinblick darauf, da wir in der uns zuggngliehen Literatur keine ~ihnliehen Befunde besehrieben fanden.
Die normale Anatomie des Filum terminale
Makroskopiseher AufbauDie Fortsetzung des Markkegels, Conus medullaris, ist der sogenannte Endfaden oder das f. t. Dabei handelt es sieh um ein zirka 1 bis 2 mm diekes und 24 bis 27 cm langes, fadenartiges Gebilde. Man unterseheidet am f. t. '2 Absehnitte: a) den proximalen intradural gelegenen und b) den distalen extradural gelegenen Anteil. Ersterer, aueh f. t. internum genannt, verl~iuft beim Erwaehsenen etwa in einer L~inge von 16 em, beim Neugeborenen zirka 4 em, freigelegen im Durasaek, w~ihrend letzterer, analog f.t. exterhum, auBerhalb des Durasaekes zirka 8 em lang beim Erwaehsenen und 2 cm beim Neugeborenen verl~iuft. Dieser distale Anteil des f. t. ist mit der Dura mater spinalis lest verwaehsen und endet meist mit einer spatelfSrmigen Verbreiterung am Periost der Rfiekfl~iehe des 2. Steigbeinwirbels, das Filum durae matris spinalis bildend.Makroskopisch ist das f. t. unter anderen Nervenstdingen der Cauda spinalis an einer deutlieh siehtbaren Begleitvene, die ventral verl~uft, zu unter-
