Spin reorientation in tetragonally distorted spinel oxide NiCo$_2$O$_4$ epitaxial films

Hiroki Koizumi,
Ikumi Suzuki,
Daisuke Kan
et al.

Abstract: We experimentally investigated the magnetic properties of NiCo 2 O 4 epitaxial films known to be conductive oxides with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) at room temperature. Both magneto-torque and magnetization measurements at various temperatures provide clear experimental evidence of the spin reorientation transition at which the MA changes from PMA to easy-cone magnetic anisotropy (ECMA) at a certain temperature (T SR ). ECMA was commonly observed in films grown by pulsed laser deposition and reacti… Show more

“…Such deviations in the cation occupation modify the half-metallic band structure and reduce spin polarization. Furthermore, NCO films have sufficient PMA (K 1 ∼ 1 × 10 5 J/m 3 ) based on the spin-orbit interaction, which might contribute to the fast demagnetization process [30].…”
