Spin physics experiments at NICA-SPD with polarized proton and deuteron beams

Abstract: We propose to perform measurements of asymmetries of the DY pair"s production in collisions of non-polarized, longitudinally and transversally polarized protons and deuterons which provide an access to all leading twist collinear and TMD PDFs of quarks and anti-quarks in nucleons. The measurements of asymmetries in production of J/Ψ and direct photons will be performed as well simultaneously with DY using dedicated triggers. The set of these measurements will supply complete information for tests of the quark-… Show more

“…The complex prescription originates from the corresponding integral representation of theta function (see, [8] for details). This complex prescription in (17) generates the imaginary part in order to compensate the complex i in parametrization of the photon-vacuum matrix element (12) and which leads to real part on the l.h.s. of (6).…”

“…The concept of the detector for spin physics studies at the NICA collider has been presented in [5]. The required set of devices for the Spin Physics Detector described in this publication can be also successfully used to register the elastic processes.…”

“…[7]. Prospective new hadron facilities for transverse-spin physics include the proposal for polarized protons at the Fermilab main injector [24], the NICA spin-physics program [25] described at this conference by Oleg Teryaev and the proposal for a polarized target in AF-TER, a fixed target program using crystal extracted beams at the LHC [26]. In studying single-spin asymmetries in hadron-hadron collisions it is particularly interesting to use two-hadron correlations in the final state in order to separate distribution contributions from fragmentation effects as discussed in Ref.…”
