Spin motion versus monopole in the charge quantization problem

Abstract: This paper critically reviews the foundation principles of the charge quantization problem based on introduction of monopole. By closely following the Dirac's approach, we show that there is an alternative way of solution of the above problem by changing topology of the surface through which the magnetic flux emanates. This way leads to introduction of a quantized magnetic moment along the z-axis due to spin motion of the charged particle, which is connected to the charge value through fundamental constants.
